Sometime in 2011 I came across a friend’s copy of Pete Nelson’s Treehouses of the World. My eyes were opened to a type of treehouse (and methods of construction) that I had never imagined. Ideas began to brew when my childhood desire to build cool things outdoors combined with lifelong interests in woodworking and homebuilding. Over the years I talked frequently about my dream of building a treehouse on our wooded property. I worried that I was beginning to talk about it in that way that can become a comfortable substitute for actually doing the thing. Eventually, I found a spot that begged for a treehouse too much to deny - and in the summer of 2020, while life was restricted by COVID19, I began to build something that would end up being so much more than I ever hoped or imagined.
